Our Story

Established in 1979, the Rogers Family Company's steadfast mission is to search out the world's finest Arabica varieties and roast the richest, most flavorful coffees available anywhere while making the world a better place at the same time.

The Rogers Family Team

We are Jon, Barbara, Jim, Lisa, John, Pete, Kirsten, and Suzanne Rogers - the family behind the Rogers Family Company coffee roasting company. Our family also includes extended families across generations and the world who are helping to provide and improve better quality coffee to you and your family.

We stand for premium, sustainable, fair and direct trade coffee and tea at prices you'll love! We like to say our products are grown for good. Our Community Aid Program has restored thousands of acres of rainforest by farming only with shade grown farms, and planted our own coffee on our own organic farms!

We are a privately held, 100% family-owned and operated company, and our reputation reflects on us as a family. For us, your satisfaction is our top priority, and we stand firmly behind the quality of all of our products. We do everything we can to keep overhead costs low and pass those savings on to you. Whether it’s growing and importing our own coffee, keeping marketing costs down, or even keeping the lights off in unoccupied parts of our warehouse, we’re saving money and passing the savings on to you.

We are proud to grow our own coffee on six, beautiful, bio-diverse, organic coffee farms. They are all 100% organic coffee farms: 3 in Panama and 3 in Mexico, with four new farm purchases planned. In total, we currently have about 900 hectares of land. About 600 is mixed shade grown coffee planting and about 300 preserved native forests. The fact that we are growing our own coffee on bio-diverse shade coffee farms makes us a carbon negative company

Shade Grown Coffee is a way of growing coffee in concert with nature. We plant our coffee trees in and among a forest canopy of native trees rather than in full sun. Shade coffee farming (as opposed to clear cutting for full sun) creates healthy soil content, protects the environment for a myriad of animals and birds, fights global warming, and truly creates a better coffee bean.

Fairly Traded Coffee

Fairly traded coffee means that all our coffee is purchased directly from farmers we know personally at prices that will sustain both a high quality of life for the farmer, coop members, and for workers on the farms far into the future. Whether the farmer is a member of a coop or owns his own farm, we personally know all our farmers and are likely to sit down to dinner with their families!

Community Aid Program

We strive to break the cycle of poverty that exists in coffee communities and to improve the education, housing, health, and sanitary conditions for workers and their families on every farm where we do business. We also provide agricultural assistance to all the farmers we work with:

  1. To improve crop quality on farms
  2. To convert farms to shade and organic farming to ensure the beans are sustainable and delicious
